Ullrich I don't know the hypermail but just in case, maybe adding a sentence or two to the subscription text like "You agree that all the mail are archived and available publical via WWW." could prevent such problems. I've been undergone such in another mailing list, where it has been shut down and everyone had to re-subscribe.
