For one reason or another this compiler was the one that came first
into my mind too ;-)

From your detailed report (thanks for providing as it i.e. keeps me
from investing time into Aztec C in vain myself) I understand that it
is hard to find a reasonable competitor - which makes indeed the whole
effort somewhat pointless...
