well...from a democoders perspective, yes ofcourse :) every single cycle 
squeezed out is worth it. and ofcourse several such small things may still 
add up.

however, i obviously have no idea HOW much work it would be to add this kind 
of stuff to the compiler. i wouldnt rewrite the codegenerator for it (or do 
something equally non trivial), but if its more or less done with a few small 
changes, why not do them? they dont harm afterall :)
