Thinking about CSS, your index.php and news.php do have too much
formatting left in. Formatting with TABLEs or giving size attributes is
something that should not be necessary if using CSS.

I know that conversion is a process, but as you states that index.php
and news.php *are* converted (and not: I started converting index.php
and news.php), I wanted to place this remark.
