The version from the 2.9 package was never considered to be really usable.
I've stated this more than once, and it can easily be seen by the fact that
there is no documentation. Even the 2.9 version can do info files, which will
probably solve your problem, but without docs there's no way for you to know.

I can only repeat that anyone complaining about da65 should use the one from
the snapshot. Version 2.9 was incomplete, undocumented, and quite different
from the current version. Complaining about this version is a waste of time.
