wait.... i think there are TWO different things then (i thought of the
other all the time actually :D) that should be considered....

a) there are MAXPALCOL colors in a palette which can be choosed from a
total of MAXCOL colors. (4 of 16 colors for c64-multicolor or 2 of 16
colors for c64 hires)

b) (this only applies for systems that dont have fixed COLORS) there
is a color-palette of MAXPALCOL colors and each color can be specified
by whatever parameters (R-G-B values possibly) .... the gameboy color
works that way (uhm-totally offtopic eh? ,=)) .... and i think i have
seen this somewhere on atari(???) aswell.
