I know of no good machine translators. They don't exist. Early in the
"machine translation project", people thought that in order to
translate, not much semantic processing was required. As a result,
machine translation, like controlled economical fusion, has always been
20 years away. It is now understood that reasonable translations cannot
be achieved without doing significant semantic analysis. So much so
that no one currently has a clue how to make a computer do it.
Not that Babelfish should be thrown away. It (and programs like it)
should be used to decide what to translate. Do a quick-and-dirty and
unacceptable machine translation to decide what to expend human effort
on.
