Yes, I think it would solve my problem at hand.

But: On the other hand, I think it is overkill. As noone stepped up and
said "yes, I need this, too", I think trying to implement such a thing
is just too much work for not enough gain.

I happen to have a work-around, which works for me - not elegant, but it
works -, thus, I am very happy for your offer, but I think you should
put your precious time into more interesting things.

I thought my problem would be solvable with not much effort. Obviously,
I was wrong.
