In my opinion a separate API is a good idea. The result is that we should discuss it in a different thread - maybe only after this one has yield a result... I agree with you that the library in question should basically be a string converter. Therefore the target specific libraries should to be able to be fed with a string - which unfortunately currently isn't the case with the CBM targets. And that's what this thread is about.
