I think normal files are handled fine with "(drive):(name),(type),(access)" as in "0:file,s,r" Directory names are different. They are more like a command "(cmd)(drive):(param)" as in "$0:*". I have never seen a ",r" appended to it for dirs. That the drive accepts it might be a peculiarity of the parser, which is iirc shared between files and commands. That effect should imho not be relied on. I'm of course not authorative on that, but I don't think e.g the 1541 manual says anything different.
