Hm, I don't have Windows machine to test it on but I am quite sure Oliver tests it under Windows. ;-) My best guess is that cygwin is the common environment under Windows for this type of development, and there forward slashes are actually allowed.. But if you have another solution, please let us know how can Windows compatibility be improved without hurting unixalike systems.
