Hm, it's getting hard to answer without starting all over: It's far
from perfect because it hinders portable programs - which is the
primary goal of TGI.

In fact it even "lies" to the program because the function
implementation doesn't fit the prototype. In that aspect it hardly
couldn't be worse.
