With the efforts that went into this discussion, several hundred people could have easily added ".addr *+2" to their source files. I do happily admit that better and/or more documentation would be helpful. But making file format discussion proposals and other stuff out of it is more than it's worth. There are far more serious problems and possible improvements that don't have such an easy workaround as this one. > I'm not pushing this as something that really needs to happen soon, > but if there are those who would like to toss the idea around, I > created a wiki page (basically intended to be temporary). That OK Uz? > http://wiki.cc65.org/doku.php?id=output_file_format_talk Please don't do that. Discussions and talk should go to the mailing list or into private mail. What you're actually doing is using the Wiki as some sort of discussion forum, and I did intentionally not create a cc65 forum. I know that there are different opinions about forums, but I do prefer mail because it is pushed (comes to me) instead of me having to pull it. If I'm involved in several forum discussions, I have to check each of these forii in regular intervals and this is not going to happen. You might call me old fashioned if you want to, but that's the way it is :-) > > That "technique" above *is* documented under the headline `Porting > > sources from other assemblers <http://www.cc65.org/doc/ca65-17.html>`_ > > in the ca65 documentation. > > Indeed it is. There's even another piece of information here http://wiki.cc65.org/doku.php?id=cc65:using_ca65_with_foreign_source that could go into the mentioned chapter in the docs, so the information is at least in one place. Maybe someone could complete this in whe Wiki what has been started by Stefan Haubenthal, so I can move it to the docs?
