I'm glad that I read up to this point before wondering where the
misunderstanding might be :-))

So the only question left here is: Do we want to introduce
TGI_COLOR_xx macros to keep conio (with its COLOR_xx macros) out of
the game in the first place, or do we say: If necessary then
textcolor() and friends need to do a "runtime color mapping" too.

I personally would opt for TGI_COLOR_xx macros and leave conio alone
(as from now on "exclusive" user of COLOR_xx macros).
