Maybe this isn't the perfect place for that because this mailing list is
about the cc65 package which already comes with the - at least in my opinion
great - ca65 cross assembler ;-)

I think it's a great idea to use CC65 to compile an assembler since the target runtime is the Apple II itself.  As a matter of fact, I would think it could be a lot of fun to use the CC65 package on a SuperCPU enabled Commodore 128 if Uz could get CC65 to compile itself to the 65816 CPU.  I know 20mhz isn't exactly fast, but it would be a helluva lot better than the Super C stuff that's native to the 64/128.
