Fábio Belavenuto sent me a solution for ProDOS 8 with complete source code which is currently evaluated for inclusion in cc65. There are some problems with the code, but as far as I can see, they can be solved without too much hassle, and the code is small and easy to understand. I've never seen your code, so unfortunately I cannot comment on topics such as suitability and possible inclusion. What I've taken from your posts, your solution covers more cases, so I'm more than willing to look at it, once it is available for review for people like me. Adding Fábios code would mean that the hooks for file I/O are already tested and in place, and several other decisions have been made. Even if we decide to replace the code later, this should make things easier, because we don't hav to start from scratch.
