does anybode know what exactly the "paranoia" test (which is also in my
testsuite) examines...what standard and what format etc?

i might add a dedicated floating point test then when its decided what format
will be picked.

btw, i personally would vote for a 32bit float format ... just because i am
used to it and i would hardly need any more precision anyway :)
