Hi! Because of recent events, I have to bring up a few policy issues. As you do probably know, email is not a very reliable medium, which means that I do have to handle bounces and other mail problems somehow. Unfortunately, if mail to a list subscriber bounces, this means that I cannot reach him either, so communication fails exactly in the same moment when it would be needed. So here is my problem handling policy for the list: 1. If I do get a bounce with "user unknown", "domain unknown" or similar, I will remove the offending address immediately. 2. On temporary technical problems ("host unreachable", DNS problems), I will remove the address after 3-5 days. 3. User related problems (mailbox full, permanent auto responder messages or similar) will cause me to remove the user after 24-48 hours. In some situations (e.g. after the Sven virus made many mail accounts unusable for days) I will wait somewhat longer. 4. If the mail server responsible for your address refuses to accept mail from the list server, I will try to resolve this issue with the admin of the mail server depending on the problem. However, if I don't get a reply from the mail server admin within 12-24 hours, I will remove the problematic address from the list. If I don't get a reply to my mail at all, or if my mail is not accepted for the same reasons, I may disallow all subscriptions from this domain. In most cases you may just resubscribe if you notice that you have been dropped from the list. In some other cases (4.) your only choices are to use another mail address when resubscribing, or bug your admin. Regards Uz -- Ullrich von Bassewitz uz_at_musoftware.de ---------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list send mail to majordomo_at_musoftware.de with the string "unsubscribe cc65" in the body(!) of the mail.
