If I have problems with the optimizer, I run diff over the two output files.
This should also be possible for a file run through opt65.

If someone is interested: cc65 is able to generate such a statistic. Just make
an environment variable CC65_OPTSTATS point to a file (I'm using
~/.cc65-optstats), and cc65 will create this file and update it on each run.
