[cc65] ca65 error

I'm getting this error message with ca65 v2.9.1 -

The instruction at 0x0040adba referenced memory at 0xffffffff.
The memory could not be read.


I think it may be from of a (rather large) macro I made.  But it was working perfectly 
OK, then I changed something elsewhere in the source and started getting that error.  
I'll probably re-write my code anyways, but I was wondering what caused that.
