There is a feature called "flexible array members" in ISO/IEC 9899:1999 (E),
is it that what you mean?

I'm sorry, but when accessing this page using Mozilla, I get redirected to a
page with list of Microsoft topics ("Welcome to the MSDN library", ".NET
Development" and so on). Are you sure that above page is accessible using
other browsers than Microsoft Internet Exploder? If not, the URL is a good
example why non standard features are evil.

They trick you into using their "unique" features, and once you notice that
these features have severe disadvantages, it's too late, and the way out is
very thorny.
