Type full paths, just in case > (I'm not familiar with X11 version). I've already tried all that and failed, so I've deleted it (again - I'd tried the emulator a year ago or so with similar results). First try was to add the path when asked (it makes me wonder why /usr/share/atari800 is not compiled into the executable, since the manual pages know that the ROMs are there). Didn't work. Then I wanted to edit the config file but was not able to find it. So I thought it would be a good time to give the docs a try. The docs say in case of problems, one should refer to the FAQ, but there are only three questions answered by the FAQ, and none of the answers is related to my problem. The location and name of the config file is not mentioned anywhere. Next try was to start the executable in /usr/share/atari800 where all the ROMs are. It prints an error message about not being able to create a file named atari800.cfg. Now at least I know how the config file is named. But on a Linux system "atari800.cfg" makes not much sense, and creating it in the current directory makes even less sense. Next: Edited the config file and tried different versions of the path (with and without leading slash, ...). No go. Then: Used strace to have a look at the inner workings. strace tells me what seemed to be obvious: The path is completely ignored, the ROMs are searched in the current directory. And then: Copied the ROMs plus the config file into a temp directory and started the emulator in this directory. This worked at least so far that the emulator comes up. However, it does not accept any input. This was the moment when I decided that I will try again next christmas or so:-) At least I do now know who to type "xset r on" very quickly, because this is needed after every emulator start:-) Regards Uz -- Ullrich von Bassewitz uz_at_musoftware.de ---------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list send mail to majordomo_at_musoftware.de with the string "unsubscribe cc65" in the body(!) of the mail.
