While I appreciate your work, I admit that I'm not happy about these routines.
I would rather like to see a module based solution that is portable and has a
simpler interface. Besides that, the original copyright differs from the
current library copyright. Did you really port (in which case the copyright
would still apply) these routines or rewrite them?
