I've found a small tutorial at http://hkn.berkeley.edu/~mcmartin/P65/NES/NES101.html that, if I get a few spare minutes, I'll try and re-work to CC65. FF3 Atari and C64 ports anyone? (Does the C64 have 'large/swapping' carts?)
