its a bitch ;=D well, unless you are into gcc/binutils hacking for a
while and know what you are doing its pretty much a nonononono ;=D

however, some dudes startet a backend for 6502 (nmos i think) target
some time back, but couldnt really make it generate decent code and
then stopped the project afaik. i personally doubt it'll be worth the
effort... a small dedicated compiler like cc65 can probably do the job
mutch better than gcc could ever do for a 8bit target ;)
