yeah you are probably right ... i just happen to compile 'big' linux stuff
often and found the cygwin environment to be much less troublesome. (well,
and it DOES work for any 'small' programms as well ;=D)

mmmh, as for DJGPP i'd say "it either works or you can't fix it" ... djgpp has
some odd problems with several things actually (that appear from time to time
only, however). Also, i experienced different problems like that on different
machine-setups (namely, 'real' DOS6.0 vs win9x versions) - so it might be worth
a try to compile on a different machine.
