mmmmh wasnt there a discussion earlier about changing the meaning of the 
CH_xxx defines to refer ONLY to the control code, and introduce something 
different (KEY_xxx or sth) to refer to the actual key ?

just wondering...have stumbled over the one or other related problem lately :)
